Forty years ago, Army Staff Sgt. Walt Myers was exposed to the herbicide Agent Orange in Vietnam. Now he suffers profound muscle weakness in his legs. He was facing the possibility of spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair. But thanks to a special knee brace developed at Mayo Clinic, Myers is walking tall.
I would really like to speak via this website to Army Staff Sgt. Walt Myers. My husband Anthony was also exposed to Agent Orange in 1969 in Viet Nam. He now has a dreadful disease called Complex Neurodegenerative Disorder. Sometimes also referred to as Progressive Aphasia. He’s unable to walk without aid, speaks very little and so many other awful symptoms. He is a research patient at Mayo, where we visit one time a year for evaluation. I contacted the VA, and they now see him a couple times a year, so he can get his meds from them. I would be curious to know if Sgt. Myers was able to get the VA to work with him, and if he has a monthly monetary payment from them.
